Golden Beach is not a resort strip. It's a real, lived-in stretch of coast with everything you need nearby. Supermarkets, bakeries, a pharmacy, ATMs, and fuel are all within a short drive. A few things require a trip to Limenas (15 to 20 minutes), but nothing is far.

Good to Know
Language: Greek is the working language. English is widely spoken in Golden Beach and the tourist areas during the season. German and Bulgarian are also commonly understood.
Currency: Euro. Cards are accepted at most restaurants, hotels, and larger shops. Keep some cash for local markets, the bakery van, roadside produce sellers, and smaller tavernas.
Driving: Drive on the right. Roads are generally well-maintained. The coastal circuit road is narrow in places, so take it slowly and enjoy it. Google Maps works well on Thassos.
Summer climate (July and August): Peak temperatures 28 to 35°C. Sea temperature 25 to 27°C. Almost no rain. Golden Beach faces east and is largely sheltered from the prevailing northwest meltemi wind, so the bay stays calm most days.
June and September: More moderate, 22 to 28°C. Fewer crowds, calmer sea. Many of our guests find these the best months to visit.
Shop hours: Most local shops close 14:00 to 17:30 for the afternoon. Plan shopping for the morning or after 17:30. Supermarkets in Limenas have more consistent all-day hours.
Mobile data: All major Greek networks (Cosmote, Vodafone, Wind) have good coverage on Golden Beach. EU roaming applies for EU-based SIMs at no extra charge.
Tap water: Safe to drink across Thassos.
Emergency: 112. Works from all mobile networks. The nearest full emergency department is Kavala General Hospital on the mainland, reachable by ferry and then about a 20-minute drive.
